Cycling 202- (Training and Racing skills)
This is a USA Cycling development event for riders who have competitive aspirations, this is an opportunity for you to get the “soup to nuts” low down on women’s racing.
Must have a USAC license. One day licenses will be available for the clinic if you do not have one. Completing this course will give USAC upgrade points for category 3 and 4 racers.
Clinic will include all the 101 material plus the 202 advanced instruction:
- Meeting room Lectures - explaining skills that will be covered
- On the bike application of skills. Coaches will demonstrate and then give you opportunity to perfect the skills presented
- Bike fit- You will not only be fit to your bike, but learn how to apply the technique in the future.
- Basic bike mechanics you need to know.
- Video critique- a very powerful tool in learning and perfecting your skills.
- Nationally and internationally recognized coaching staff
- Opportunity to ask questions and address issues unique to women’s cycling.

- Lunch with your new best friends and training partners
- Certificate of completion
- Racing scenarios and the ability to practice implementing strategy.

Topics covered will include:
101 Clinic Content - Improve your cycling skills, your zone of comfort riding with other riders and learn how to efficiently travel down the road and meet a lot of very cool female cyclists. Topics that will be covered include: Basic group riding skills, group ride etiquette, pace lines (beginning and advanced), gear selection, bike fit/position, cornering, climbing, hazard avoidance, basic bike mechanics and much more than you can imagine knowing about a bike.
202 Clinic Content - Race strategy, cornering, attacking/counter attacking, bridging, sprinting, time trial starts, Eschelons, defensive riding, how to handle parasitic riders, gaining advantage, how to train with men, the psychology of women’s racing, how to warm up for different events, how teamwork works, motorpacing, team time trials and other advanced skills.
Requirements:
- Must complete both days
- A bike with working brakes
- A helmet
- An open attitude willing learn new skills
- A USA Cycling racing license (if you do not have a current license, you can purchase a one day license at the clinic)
